Project Life July Layout

What a busy few weeks it has been for us.  We took one last trip with the kids 2 weeks ago before school started again.  That same week I released my new wood veneer cards and I had an amazing response to them!

There are 15 designs right now.  The cards are 3"x4" and I created them to use with divided pocket scrapbooking...Project Life, SN@P, Basic Grey's Capture and other similar systems.  With the craziness of school starting and trying to stay on top of orders, I haven't had much time to play with these myself!  Here is one card I did some stitching on with Amy Tangerine's embroidery stencil from the August Studio Calico kit:

I used this card in my July Project Life Layout:

I'll be posting more projects soon!

Basic Grey Capture Album: Paper Maps

With GPS devices and map apps on our phones, who needs paper maps right?  Well, I got these Las Vegas maps from AAA anyway because as a paper crafter of course I thought, "I can do something with these".

When I was trying to decide what I wanted to do for my cover page in my Las Vegas album, I thought the maps would be perfect!  I'm using a Basic Grey Capture album for this.  I grabbed the first page divider in the album and traced it onto the map.

For this page I used a map with the general Las Vegas area.  I centered the page divider so that "Las Vegas". Would be centered on the page.  I added a geotag chipboard piece above Las Vegas and my cover page was done!

For the back side of the page divider, I decided to use a map of the Vegas Strip area.  For this map, I used geotag chipboard pieces for every hotel that we visited as well as for the convention center where the CHA show was held.

This was so simple and I love how it tuned out!  I'll be posting my entire album soon!

Summer CHA Conference - Basic Grey Booth

My first stop at the show was the Basic Grey booth. I've fallen in love with their Capture line and had to go see all their new products in person!

All the Capture products will be coming to the shop soon!  The new RSVP, Persimmon and 25th and Pine 6x6 paper pads and embellishments will be coming to the shop as well!

We made this Capture Make and Take at the booth with Ann-Marie Morris.  We used the new Attach Me Stickers that you can use to include pamphlets, photos and other items into your albums without using page protectors or gluing them down:

I love their new calendar stamp!

A few of the new papers:

Love this card:

They had a cute little photo booth setup!

Ann-Marie was so sweet!  I love her blog!

Summer CHA Conference - Dyan Reaveley Workshop

The next workshop I took was with the amazing Dyan Reaveley!  I've seen her work before and watched her YouTube videos, but was always a little scared to try her products.

In her workshop, we used large and small tags to create a mini book of techniques using her Dylusions Ink Sprays, stencils, stamps and her new Ink Spray Pad.

Once again, I didn't have time to take step by step photos during the workshop, but here are some of the finished tags:

We folded the tags in half and glued them back to back.  This was the cover, we used canvas tape for the spine.

These are just backgrounds for art journaling. Check out Dyan's blog to see her amazing work!  More CHA posts to come!!!

Summer CHA Conference - Tim Holtz Workshop

I just got back from my Vegas Trip where I attended the CHA Create-n-Connect Conference  and Trade Show.  One of the things I was most looking forward to was taking Tim Holtz's Distressed Holiday Cards workshop!

We of course used lots of Distress Markers, Ink, Stains and Paints.  We also got to use one of Tim's new stencils!  Here I used the stencil with white Distress Paint to create the background for one of the cards we made:

I love that Tim created the stencils in a tag shape, pre-punched so you can store them on a binder ring, genius!  I wish I had taken more photos of the processes, but I needed to keep up with the class!  I will blog later about the techniques we used later!  Here are my finished cards:

I love the red and white paper twine we used on the left card.  The bow holds its shape so well, this will be coming to the shop soon!  This card tag was made by Mario Rossi III and his wife Sara, they made one for everyone in the workshop, over 100!

If you're familiar with Tim's Blueprint stamps, Mario Rossi III is the designer.  We were lucky to get to take a set home!

More CHA blogposts to come over the next few days!

Basic Grey Capture

I LOVE the new Basic Grey Carte Postale and Capture lines.  I went on a little shopping spree last week to make an album for my upcoming trip to Las Vegas for the Summer CHA show.  Here's what I did for my cover!

I'm hoping they release new products for the capture line during CHA, I would love to carry this line in my shop!

Washi Tape Paper Clips

As much as I love my iPad and iPhone to keep track of things, I seem to always go back to paper and pens!  I like to clip important papers and things within my planners and notebooks so I know where they are.  I used some regular paper clips and some thin washi tape to make these little flag markers to use. You can write on the little flags if needed which is a great bonus over fabric markers.  These are so inexpensive to make and easy to replace if you need a new flag!

Homemade Play Dough

Today is the first day of Summer Break for the kids.  We decided to make play dough at home for the first time.  It was really easy and took less than 10 minutes.  Here is the recipe, you'll probably have the ingredients in your pantry already:

1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup cornstarch
3/4 cup water
Food coloring

Mix together the baking soda and cornstarch in a pot, breaking up any lumps.  Mix in water and food coloring.  Place the pot on the stove over medium heat stirring constantly.  As soon as the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the edge of the pot, turn the heat off.  If overcooked, the dough will be crumbly.  Transfer to a bowl and cover while waiting for it to cool.  Once cool, knead the dough and have fun!
